The Chippewa’s mission is to provide hands-on access to all interested hobbyists of 1" scale Live Steam Railroading
Trains run from June to October, most 2nd and 4th Sundays (including all Sundays in October). There is no ticket charge for rides; donations are accepted. Click on the link at the top of this page to see our current schedule.
Each month (usually 3rd Saturday), come learn how to maintain a 1-inch scale railroad. The primary project on work days is typically track work. With 1800 fee of mainline, there is always track work to do! Tamping and aligning, tie replacement, and checking the more than 360 pairs of joint bars, each with 4 nuts and bolts that work loose, are just some of the regular maintenance projects the railroad requires to maintain optimal operating conditions. No expertise is necessary: we are more than happy to show you how!
Each winter, find us at the Lincoln Train Show (trains running), Council Bluffs Train Show (display only), and Lincoln Home and Garden Show (display only). Catch up with us in the off-season, and talk trains.
We'd love to have you come out to share the live steam hobby! Located on the grounds of the Seward County Historical Society Museum. Take exit 373 from I-80, head north on 80G, then turn left at the windmill onto the museum property. Note: while the post office address says Seward, the railroad is actually in Goehner, as indicated on the map here.
